Overview

Olympic Restaurant, located at 454 Chelmsford St in Lowell, Massachusetts, offers a rich and authentic taste of Cambodian cuisine that stands out in the New England food scene. From the moment you step inside, the spacious and elegantly decorated dining area with chandeliers and a stage for live events sets the tone for a warm, inviting experience. Ideal for families, groups, and special occasions, the restaurant’s ambiance balances casual dining with a hint of celebration.

The menu is a thoughtful blend of traditional dishes and unique flavors that evoke the spirit of Cambodia. Signature items such as the Blue Lagoon and Olympic Noodles deliver fresh, vibrant flavors, while the Hainanese Chicken Rice and Beef Hot Pot offer comforting, well-seasoned meals that invite sharing. For those seeking freshness with a touch of zest, the Papaya and Mango Salads refresh the palate. The Som-Law soups, including spicy Tom Yum and the hearty somlah machu kreung, showcase a masterful use of herbs, spices, and balanced sour notes essential to Southeast Asian cooking.

Side dishes like Crispy Wings, Salt & Pepper Fried Squid, and Deep Fried stuffed pork wrapped in tofu skin provide more than just complement—they are a gateway to exploring textures and regional tastes. Fried and steamed fish selections, especially the seasonal flounder preparations, demonstrate the chef’s dedication to quality and authenticity.

Several customers praise Olympic Restaurant for its attentive service and welcoming atmosphere. Testimonials highlight how the staff creates a homely ambiance, making each visit feel personal—whether it’s a quick family meal or a festive banquet. The incorporation of Cambodian music and a functional stage enhances cultural immersion, making dining here both a culinary and cultural journey.

While most reviews express delight at the authentic flavors and generous portions, the occasional hiccup like the presence of a hair in the papaya salad underscores the need for vigilant kitchen hygiene—yet it does little to overshadow the overall positive experience.

Olympic Restaurant is not just a place to eat; it’s a destination for those who wish to explore Cambodian cuisine beyond the typical, appreciate friendly service, and enjoy a spacious, culturally rich environment. Whether you are a local resident or a visitor to Lowell, this restaurant offers an inviting taste of Cambodia that feels both traditional and excitingly new.

Was super excited for the food, especially since they had options that you don’t normally see in a restaurant. The menu reminds me of eating in Cambodia! The flavor was good as well, with some dishes on the milder side. Unfortunately, when I got to the papaya salad, a long strand of hair was entangled into the food. Would’ve given a solid 5 stars but I had to take one off for the hair.

Great food! Ordered the beef sticks, noodle soup and somlah machu kreung. Each dish was so good! Food came quickly and hot. The somlah machu kreung was enough for at least 4 people, way more than expected! Great customer service and they were so accommodating to my family. The restaurant is quite large, I imagine for banquets and different occasions. There was even a music and stage set up.

Food was delicious! The place was clean and spacious. The hall has beautiful chandeliers. I also appreciate the bathroom space. There’s Cambodian music, a stage to dance on certain event nights and a bar! Customer service is also wonderful. I appreciate how professional everything was. Will definitely go back.

Love the soup, preferably the chicken. Amazing, warms the belly and flavorful. Taste like home, and always a go to when I’m not feeling my best. The owner and employees are so kind, attentive and quick. I come with my family often and we love it here, always welcomed with open arms.
